Dan Nainan began his entre into the world of comedy like many comedians. OK maybe not. He was a senior engineer with Intel Corporation. His job was to travel the world with the company’s senior executives, doing technical demonstrations on stage at events, and he was incredibly nervous
about speaking on stage. Dan took a comedy class to get over the fear, and the comedy kind of took off.
Do what you fear, and the death of fear is certain. – Dan Nainan & probably Mark Twain too
Since then, Dan has performed at two Democratic National Conventions, at a TED Conference, at several presidential inaugural galas, for President Obama, Donald Trump, Rudolph Giuliani, Michael Bloomberg, Hillary Clinton, Steve Wozniak, Arianna Huffington and for many similar luminaries. He also appeared in an Apple Get a Mac commercial. Dan performs all over the States as well as in many foreign countries. “My life is like that of George Clooney in Up in the Air, just without the sex LOL”.
Some of the books that encouraged Dan’s escape from the 9 to 5 include the ever popular “The Four Hour Workweek” by Tim Ferriss and “100 Ways to Motivate Yourself” by Steve Chandler. Not to mention anything by Robin Sharma.
Do What You Want When You Want
Today Dan enjoys the fact that he can take a nap “whenever I damn well please”, and he doesn’t have to go to a job that he hates. “90 percent or more of people do not enjoy their jobs, which is very sad. I don’t want to be one of those people who works five days to enjoy two, and 45 years to enjoy 10 (at a lower standard of living no less)”. And probably most of all, Dan enjoys traveling the world. So far he has performed in 28 countries.
Dan will tell you “If you want to do something you love, as opposed to something that just pays the bills, spend the time working on what you love doing (your poems, jokes, movies, songs, whatever) in the evenings and weekends, when everyone else is watching TV and getting wasted”. Dan would eventually like to turn his story into a reality television show or to a sitcom. He also wants to open the country’s first clean comedy club.
